Critique Request lots of little lines

My first tries at bullino: the unfinished eagle is from Ray Cover's class, with gold and copper inlay, the dog is on my own.

Hey Cloudy,

Photos of this stuff are hard to take aren't they:)

On the eagle, the main thing you need to watch is to control your lights and darks. Be careful not to let everything turn into a midtone. Keep your lights light your blacks black. Try to be as accurate as you can with the value tones in the in between.


On the dog, The form of the dog looks accurate. Shading is hard to tell from the photo though. One thing that I would say that will make it look a lot cleaner overall is to do little more work on the background. I like the random shape of the shading you have in the background but I think making all the lines in the background run the same direction would make the whole piece look a lot cleaner.
