Made 10 4oz and 10 1oz cans of transfer wax today at lunch while the wife was away :)

This should be enough to last me a little while!

that's enough transfer wax to pass down to generations a two hundred years from now.

Recipe: 50/50 beeswax and tallow is common

Well I have a good bit of experience with waxes from years of reloading an making my own blend of bullet Lube.
It's a mix of bees wax, tallow, olive oil, canada balsam, an small amount of carnauba. So far my .3mm mechanical penicil draws on it like a champ. I don't really have a good way to describe it other than or goes on with a clean look an gives a light matte/satin look on the metal. I might give out a couple of the small tons if any one wants to test it out.
If the performance sucks then I will turn it into bullet lube :)

Sounds similar to a mix I use. In two grades. One for summer, one for winter.

You may find that if you made it to work well in winter - it might not work so well when it's over 80 degrees in your shop. (We've been up to 107 outdoors a few times)

Made about 50 tins of it. Gave it all away to students over the years.

'ceptin' my personal stash, of course...

A lotta work if you do it right.

Lynton said his recipe depended on whether he was in the south, the north, or out west where it's dry.

Here's the tin of his original transfer wax, given to him by Winston Churchill. He said the darkness of the mix is not coloring, but a result of years of a buildup of dust and grime.

James, you might need to make each one if those cans a different recipe. You know how our climate is in Mississippi, dry , humid, humid - cold , humid - hot, cold, hot, wet, and this is all in one day. Haha

I tried to make my own from a recipe in an "Art of Engraving" book published in 1903 (mostly lettering related) bought a pound block of bees wax but could not find tallow in South Georgia. Experiment with lard, clean bacon grease, beef lard, carving waxes and molding waxes of various colors-Bought Sam's could not be happier. Winter or summer. Fred

hey, beladran-- i like experimenting with such. made several concoctions of my own. i finally settled on a binary wax transfer system. part of mike dubbers' black wax, for the initial lift. sams' for the other. using one or the other-- sams' works better. just for kicks, i'll buy a tin from you. lemme know the sordid details
