the "fixit kit" arrived from grs. somewhat confusing, however. i got a printout from grs some time ago concerning the positioning vise.
additionally, i ordered a new screw, 2 springs, and the plastic "pressure" button.
the newer model vise has 2 milled slots for the springs. the model vise i have only has a slot for 1 spring. also the plastic button wont work on the older model vise. the "lever plate" which releases tension, has a hole which is an exact fit over the center pin. the old lever has 2 holes which engage 2, fixed steel bearing balls. the newer vise has 4 holes, presumably with the same pressure release function as the 2 bearing balls on mine. the foto shows mine. if you have a printout of the newer vise, take a look.
the older unit needs only 1 spring, and no plastic pressure button. other than this minor difference, all is back to good working shape. now if i could just roll off the couch !
