Sorry it this post comes up twice. I was not sure if the first one worked so I re-posted.

Hi
I'm new to this forum and engraving as well. I'm an experienced woodcarver and would very much like to learn hand engraving.

I became fascinated with engraving after seeing some beautiful work on the web and want to try my hand at it. I'm ready to buy the tools required but I'm still not sure of how to HOLD the basic graver.

Would anyone know of any photos out there that show this?

Thanks all

Hi Nick. Welcome aboard. All new member's first three posts go into a moderation queue before they appear on the forum. After that, your messages will appear as soon as you post them.

There must be a photo out there somewhere...I'll have a look and see what I can find.

Nick, as you are just starting out you may not have been exposed to "The Art of Engraving" by James B. Meeke-It is almost a bible to begining this journey. Almost everyone here started with it. I has many illustrations that you will find invaluable-Fred

Hi Nick. You will get a lot of help here, and that is funny cause i always wanted to learn how to carve wood, but some of us have a lot of irons in the fire. We have a multi-talented group here and you will fit right in. Welcome. You will love engraving just as you do wood carving. Once you get into engraving circles, you can't help but learn and find any info that you might need..........Ron S
