Hello to all,

as a maker of folding knives i came across engraving quite a few times and always was amazed by the beautiful work people do, so i recently decided to open another can of wotms in my workshop and give it a try myself...

I'm still in the process of getting together all the tools I need, I already made myself a pneumatic handpiece (the one in the picture, its the lindsay style) from leftover material and a automatic center punch. A compressor was bought last weekend, next step will be improving my sharpening and building a knockoff power hone....

I'm looking forward profiting from all the knowledge available here and maybe being able to add some of my own one day
I have already looked for book recommendations on here, but if anybody would have a tip for a book on scrollwork and how it's made(suitable for beginners) it would be greatly appreciated...

getting all the toys is good. developing good drawing/design skills is just as, if not more important than the tool collection. good luck to you.

Hi I'm also new I made a hone out of a pottery wheel off amazon cost $25 adjustable speed 2 way. Just had to buy diamond lap disk.

This is what I used. The plastic part on top I had in my shop fit perfectly. I used a plastic screw with a 1/2 " spacer to hold it center now going to get or make a split sleeve to hold the disk down

Thanks for the tip, I recognise this book....many people seem to recommend it
Sadly it's hard to come by, especially in Europe....ill have to keep a close eye on possible ebay auctions...

I actually already bought one, but since the motor on mine had almost no torque I replaced it with a 24v geared drive...now 8t works quite nicely.....once I've constructed templates sharpening will be much quicker I hope
