The optical resolution isn't very good, but you have to admit that they're very sporty looking. It's not easy walking down the street wearing them, but that's the price you pay for being fashionable. / ~Sam
In all seriousness, where did you find these? I've been asked about them by Japanese watchmakers who are looking for alternatives to loupes. I would love to find a source!
Bill Tokyo.
I'm sure that Sam will give you information about these Russian loupes.
This might be some help to you too.
A good maker in Japan is:-
Neitz Instrument Co LTD. 36.13 Wakamatsucho, Shinjunko.ku, Tokyo 162.
Phone (Japan) 03-3204-3307.
These are high quality optics at a reasonable price.
I have used these in the past but don't have any at this time.
Hope this helps. I enjoyed your post on Japanese ivory carving, thank you.

I'm aware of the Japanese manufacturer you mention, but it is the Russian made ones I am after for several reasons.
If you have any idea, I would be highly interested.
What I am (or will be studying) is Japanese style engraving. I suppose you could use it to carve ivory too, but it is primarily used to engrave metal. However, I happened to meet the head of the Japanese netsuke carving association a few days back completely by accident. It turns out he lives near a watch store I do business with. While I admit I'm not too interested in ivory carving, this is one of those great resources I intend to file somewhere in the back of my mind.
I guess your question was directed to me about the Russian Loupes.
I'm sorry, I have no information on the Russian ones, just the Japanese.
There was information posted on another forum by Ray Cover regarding a Russian seller of air turbo tools.
Maybe a PM to Ray would get you that guys name.
That man may sell these Russian loupes too or know who does.
Just a thought. John B.
