I am not, but SARCO, Inc. has pistol slide castings which are out of spec for what ever reason for sale. They typically have the sides ground and make EXCELLENT practice fodder. I use them to practice site cuts and port lowering before attempting on a customers pistol.
I feel these would make good practice medium for engraving practice. I see GRS offers various firearms related practice material. These would make a fine addition for practicing on. At less than 15 bucks each they are certainly cheaper than an actual slide, and the potential replacement if it gets messed up with poor work.
