Im new to this art and have been practising and reading and watching videos along the way. What i cant find is any information on diamond cuts just a bunch of photos but no helpful info on it. Can any one help me as to what is the best graver and tips in how to do it? My graver is from grs if that helps for the gravers. Heres a photo of what im talking about .

Oh wow i always thought it was done by a graver. Can any mill machine do the job or does it need to be a special one? Heres a better picture

it takes a very special machine, at a very special price. i think it would be possible to do by hand, but would be a tripple bugger to do. the tiniest mistake in cutting, would throw the entire piece to the melt bin. they make rubber rooms for those wishing to do such by hand.

These cuts can certainly be made with an extremely high polished graver, but the prior gentlemen are correct. If you study the patterns and use some creative tool making, you can make brightcuts similar in look. Diamond cutting techniques were created to mimic hand engraving, but allows an "unskilled" laborer to do the job.

you aint going to get away using a hand held rotary of any type. as for milling machines, there are many multiaxial mills capable of such work. it's all dependent upon programming (telling) the machine what you want it to do. i know machinists that work on projects that would boggle the mind. i'm blessed to see it first-hand.

I'm sorry guys but John is right these cut was made with a rotary tools hand held flex shaft! with special bur: its called Diamond Fly Wheel it comes in different angles stuller link http://www.stuller.com/products/11-09000/?groupId=193037 but you have to put in in special handpiece and the speed need to be high for it to work correctly, it take some time to get use to it but it will do any cutting like the pictures above.

cant speak, first have to remove the shoe from my mouth. i had no idea these cuts could be produced by hand, much less by rotary means. i learn somethin new every time i visit the forum.

With the exception of the last plate with the scallops cut with a round bottom engraver vertically the rest of these are done with twisted wire or a rolling mill with pattern roller. Buffed to a high polish. I my opinion. Fred
