Andrew.I found this book with hundreds of coat of arms so I thought this would be a great item to attempt. It was very hard in that the buckle was german silver and the finish was very bright. Very hard to keep the glare down. The buckle was from Red Bluff buckle co. and is of very good quality and finish. Thanks for the reply,Loyd

Loyd, this engraving looks very nicely done. Is there any way you could post another picture at macro zoom level so that I might be able to stare at it for several hours?

Best regards,

on real shiney stuff , if you want to cut the glare, i've sprayed clear matte varnish. that can reduce misery to the eye. valid, of course for stuff not adversely affected by the application and subsequent removal of the matte varnish. or you can add powdered tempera to brush on varnish and apply that as a layout ground.
