I can only see her going clockwise! I can't work out how to make the image spin in the oposite direction at all. Perhaps it's the jet lag or I only have a right-brain but she definitely appears to me to be spinning in a backwards twirl on her left leg.

I thought that this was an early April Fools joke to get me to stare at my computer screen for a long time. No matter how I looked at her, she was always turning clockwise. I then scrolled down so I could only see the bottom portion of her legs and was able to get her to change directions. As I scrolled up revealing more of her I did see her going counter clockwise for a few seconds but she quickly turned directions. I was getting nervous that I didn't have a left side to my brain!

It is the level of the floor one thinks of. If you imagine looking down to her at some degree she is rotating clockwise. If you think she is dancing above you on a glass roof, the direction changes. If you shift your window as far that you can only see the legs, it is more likely that you can see her spinning in the other direction.

Boy, I must of missed something or I'm a whole brain thinker. I sware she changes direction, it is random I
think when it happens. I don't think it is an optic thing because leaning either left or right doesn't make it
happen. Sitting or standing doesn't do it either. I do know she alway rotates towards the center of her body.
Going clock wise or counter clock wise. If you watch her foot that on the ground you can tell.

At first I could only see her spinning in a clockwise rotation, then I stared at the bottom right corner of the image for a brief while and then back at the girl and she did change directions and spin counterclockwise. She then changed again to clockwise. Kind of weird

I saved a copy of the .GIF file but haven't had a chance yet to look to see how many frames it is - I don't think it's very many.

This is one of those things where someone did a lot of sophisticated work to give us a very simple result that just blows our minds.

Weirder still...

I saw clockwise immediately, but then I looked at the reflection in the window...it was STILL turning clockwise. But after a minute, I was able to see it the other way too, but not for long.

I got it now! It is just an optical illusion. If you focus on the foot that she's jumping up and down on you can get her to spin in either direction at will. I doubt very much this is a left/right brain thing just an optical illusion fooling our brains. It's fun though.

My wife is a textbook example of a left-brain thinker and I tend to favor the right side. However, when we
initially looked at the dancer, we both saw her spinning clockwise. Eventually she began to change directions
for the both of us, but I'm going to have to agree with Marcus in that this may not be the most accurate indication of which side of the brain one utilizes as much as it is just a really cool and intriguing optical illusion.

Reverses every time I look down at the popcorn and back again...but I'm really not a politician of any kind. Maybe she is?
