So I just ordered Steve Lindsay's Bench Jewel graver.

Being a hobby engraver and retired at that I just can't see the expense of his palm engraver setup. I guess when it arrives I'll give it a road test. In the mean time has anyone else used one of these gravers?

Everything that Steve Lindsay makes is a quality product. All his tools are made to the same standard in his shop in Nebraska. The more expensive Airgravers just have more features and adjustments.

John, my first Lindsay was an Artisan I think it's similar to the Bench Jewel. When I bought a classic I thought about selling the artisan instead I set it up on the other side of my bench to do gold setting. Long way of saying you can't go wrong with the Lindsay.

Hey Dave, Big here. Clean dry air? The air compressor? And why is that? What are the effects if u use the other? Just curious.

You need a oil coalescing filter if your compressor is oil lubed, also a moisture filter/trap, if you are in very humid area maybe more than one moisture filter.
Also drain your compressor , so what will happen your tool will not work right and may be damaged. So again clean dry air, is extremely important.

I recently purchased a compressor from Harbor Freight. It is oil-less and has plenty of capacity one tool at a time, O ya, it didn't break the bank either.

My coworker uses a Lindsay's Bench Jewel. It is indeed an amazing graver for stone setting and engraving. However, I find it Irritatingly noisier compare to my old Gravermax which is more of a hissing air sound than anything else. My two cents.

my classic has been in my shop for several years. i've never had to clean it for any reason. good filtration betwixt compressor and classic is the reason it is care free in operation. i must also say my gravermeister has had the same record of reliability. the meister, however, needs periodic oil changes. the oil doesn't affect its operation.
