I have set it up as per instructions and it's working perfectly.

When I use the foot peddle it's letting put air from the foot. It makes a hissing noise. Is this right?

It's my first air tool and I'm not sure if it should be letting air out there.

It will let a small amount of air out of the pedal by nature of the seal. As you press the pedal it actually releases the air out through the pedal. The air leak should stop if the green light is off.

BTW.... What color are the quick connect fittings on the machine? I see you are outside the US and am curious.

They are orange and there is no leak when it's off.

Thanks for your reply. Also after 30 mins of use the handpiece is warm. Is that normal? Sorry for the questions I'm suffering from paranoia

It's probably getting warm because you gripping it so hard because you are nervous! :) Just kidding. They can get warm but not usually hot on a max. At some point clean the handpiece with denatured alcohol. I believe it is called that over there as well.
The reason I asked about the fittings is there is a rash of knock off machines out there usually shipped from China for the US market but in Europe it can be different. You are good with the orange fittings.

Make sure you have the correct air pressure. Around 22 psi on the guage. if you run it too high the machine won,t function properly. I used to blame my foot pedal until I discovered the pressure.

Sorry guys i have another question.

In comparison to the micromotor with a hammer hand-piece i used as a powered engraver the gravermax seems to run away (it cut lines too fast)

On my micromotor hand-piece i could not olnly adjust the SPM but also the power of each strike from a soft hit to a more powerful hit - so i could have a high SPM with a lower hit power and vice versa. Is there any way of controlling this on the grs machine?

For me as a beginner it seems to cut very fast even at lower SPM settings.

You're doing something wrong. The machine will allow both. The SPM is how "fast" you are hitting and the foot pedal controls how "hard" you are hitting. Set the SPM to 3000 and light pedal for real fine work or set it at 2000 and lots of pedal to really move metal. If it is running away from you then you need to let off the pedal. Just like a car. Let up on the pedal going into a turn.

I was under the assumption that the foot pedal still controlled the speed.

I think the other tool worked differently you could control both the power of the strike and the spm. When setting the spm on the micromotor the pedal would control that not the power of the stroke. You would select the spm on the micromotor and the fill press of the pedal would reach that speed. If that makes sense.

It feels like as I press the pedal. Even at low spm it's like the piston is hitting too hard for me to control. Maybe it's some thing I will get used to but maybe there is a way to control the power. Maybe a different spring?

The foot control will control the forward motion speed but the SPM controls the strokes per minute. You say you have it at low SPM and it is hitting too hard.. Yes.. It will. More SPM will be a smoother lighter hit. Set the SPM at 2400 to start and learn to use it at that to begin.
