If anyone has thoughts about how I can improve on this please speak up.
I think that I need to show more separation of the flower from the scrolls.
Just not sure how to get that effect... Maybe better crosshatching.
Sam's or phil..Mitch what do you think?
I somehow assumed that was a horn cap. After almost 30 years making saddles I seen my share of worn silver, pretty well all western brightcut so no fine shading like you do.
I was just wondering normal use, seen a number of horn caps been flattened by the top bar in a stock truck wile unloading, that makes for a pretty sad sight.
Prayer
As of today I have not heard anyone grumble about this style of engraving.
Any style of engraving is fragile in care less hands.
I don't have an answer for you.
I am learning as I go and trying to do my best.
If I could speed up the learning process... Believe me I would.
I wasn't criticizing your engraving, I do admire your engraving and the fine shading you are able to accomplish. I might never get that far. Just wondered if it was more fragile if you got it on a saddle that is being used.
