Here's a little Spyderco Bug I just cut for fun. I stuck it on my website and it'll be interesting to see if there are any bites. I've never actually sold anything on spec through it as I've always used eBay in the past. But Ebay's fees are just crazy now and selling cross border can be a real pain in the butt through them. To be honest, I'm not really bothered whether or not it sells as I wouldn't mind keeping it for myself. Has anyone else been successful in selling direct through their website?

You can sell via website providing you get visitors..lots of them.

Best bet is to either & or make a free "farcebook business page" & or find the spyderco collector's forum...link everything to your webpage.

Website without traffic isn't a lot of use, which is the problem for 99.9% of them.

Marcus - to be online with a facebook business site isn't a bad idea, really. Chris' hint is a good one. A downer is the time you need to spend on it. People want news every day ...

What Chris already said also - you need a lot of traffic on your website. To achieve this, you need good contend (text and fine pictures), some news per week (perhaps short videos) and - important - networking in areas where your customers are (not the engraving friends ;) ). A lot of work on- and off-line! Think out of the box and become a customer yourself.

Just my 2 cents - there are a lot of specialists in this area, who can tell you a lot more about this stuff.

I always did better using Ebay. Keeping in mind the price point necessary to appeal to that group of buyers. One would need to cut with those buyers in mind. I've never sold directly from my own site so I couldn't comment on that end.

Another place is your local sporting shop. They Like to have custom stuff in the display case. I have sold a few spec pieces this way and both our local custom knife makers are give display space. Some will add a markup to make a little some do it just to have them in the store. Don't forget to leave business cards in a holder you provide. Fred
