A few weeks ago a Black Swallowtail was emerging into an adult on the upper track of the sliding glass door by my dining room (I later found the empty chrysalis up in the track). After about 30 minutes it slipped and fell to the floor. I got a stick, intending to transfer it to a nearby shrub, but when it crawled on the stick it kept right on going over my hand, up my arm, and onto my cheek. It stayed there for almost an hour, until it was ready to fly away. A truly magical moment!
It is nice when nature shows approval, as an avid gardener I try and do my part, that blossom is on a yellow squash in a 6" container, that bumble came around for several days.
