I just finished this yesterday. :)

"The Lookouts" (black bear cubs)
scrimshaw on paper micarta
1.5 x 4.75 inches
it will be framed as an art piece, that'll take 2-3 weeks from now

It's been a year now since I started doing scrimshaw! Wow, time flies! :D

Hi Katherine

If that is the quality of the work after 1 year then in another year you're going to be positivley dangerous!!!!

That scrim is absolutley stunning and the detail superb. One of the things i love about your work is that you capture something in your subjects that is beyond technique. You seem to capture the essence and life of your subject.

Just wonderful.

Cheers
Andrew

As the others have mentioned, if you want to see just how she did that bit of loveliness she documented it step by step over on Steve Lindsay's forum.

Here we're just seeing the awesome result.

Katherine,

Your work is simply amazing and Andrew is absolutely right in his observations. For as well as being technically spot on, your work communicates a much larger and complex environment than what is just being shown in the picture. I can't help but wondering what the cubs have spotted off the in distance?

Thanks for posting!!!
