Transfer printer settings

I use the Tom White Transfer method, but I seem to be having some issues with the printer "I believe". I am getting a HALO image of color on my print outs around the lettering type and it is not highly detailed. I use Illustrator for all my type and import images and drawings into illustarator and change the JPEG to vectors. But when I print I do not get the fine detail. I have the printer set to gray scale and gamma 2.2, but am not getting fine detail. Obviousley the smaller the image the larger the image dot's look, but is there a specific setting in photo shop or illustrator that can get better detail or is it just the way it is. It is mostly when type used.

Mr. Yves, I have done alot of printer playing and have bought, Microsoft, epson, and I am now (hopefully the last) on HP envy 5660. It will run on one cartridge, I use black only and my images are almost flawless I too use Mr. Tom's solution and right now probly nothing but Tom's. Good luck!!!

It sounds like the same problem I ran into a few years back with my hp printer, I did the same and just removed the color cartridge, it fixed the issue.

I have had issues with my HP printer in the past when it has not been used for a while. Try running the "print head cleaning" program located in the HP printer application ... that really improves the image quality.

get on the net. there's ways to clean those cartridges. fairly easy fixes. they also show how one can save money by refilling the used cartridges. i used to do refilling. i no longer do as i don't really do enough printing to justify the procedure.

If after you have run the HP printhead cleaning procedures (in their app) and you are still having issues with plugged nozzles, try removing cartridge from printer and placing print head (nozzle side down) on a moist paper towel for a few moments. This will often wick enough ink out of print head and it will work again as advertised.

removing the color cartridge and setting only black ink used in the setting has solved the issue.
