This is something I've always been using, and is common by engravers and jewelers in Sweden.
But I've never read about it here on the forum.
I buy it as a powder, but there is as resin too.
I mix it with something we call the T-red (60-70% ethanol and 30-40% propanol)
And store it in a dark glass bottle, then it may lose power if it is in direct sunlight.
After I added the mixture is blown on it so the alcohol evaporates.
What remains is a white rubbery surface that is easy to type on and does not flake when engrave.
The downside is that it is toxic, but I have no intention of eating it;-)
Not the world's best pictures.

I know here in the Netherlands some engravers are using Guttegom, it sounds a bit like your stuff.
I never used it so I can't compare exactly but I have a slight idea this might be the same.

Btw, very nice inside lettering:thumbsup:

You Norsemen are a helpful group. Could any of you translate the label to English so we can compare to what is used here and may find a more useful method from the north country. Fred

Fred: Google translate (Rödsprit) into methylated alcohol.
It contains 60-70% ethanol and 30-40% propanol.
Use as fuel, antifreeze and cleaning.
It is colored red here in Sweden so it's easy to tell the difference from other liquids.
Have not tried but think surely zippo fluid works too.
