Well at the last minute it was decided to engrave a steer skull on the top dust cover instead if just scroll. So here is what i came up with and started to engrave. I think i will recess the background around the skull and stipple it ti make the skull stand out a bit more and hopefully look more dramatic

Leland Do some more proper tree bark texture around the critter. It looks like he is wearing stripped pajamas pattern is way too even needs more irregularity and break it up a bit. Just step outside and look at a tree.
Marty ,Thanks that's the best laugh I've had all day. Yep it needs work just have not figured out how yet.
Thanks

Leland you just hit the nail on the head. One of the hardest things to do is when to say STOP time to just move on. This is true no matter how much experience you have
Now go knock that drivers side out of the ballpark

No...his foot is tucked in just as it shows on the photo I took of it many years ago.

Here is the photo and you can see if you look close the left tootsie is tucked under...doesn't show well in the engraving photo but it is there and I plan it will show well when CC is polished off.

Same squirrel, same photo Op, t'other foot. You can see the right foot tucked down and inward.

Leland if you dont knock it out of the park at least you go down swinging like they say a walk is as good as a hit So is a good bunt
Dont worry because you will get a little bit better with each try and sometimes a whole lot better with a failure ive always said i learn more from a mistake than doing it right Well it sounds good anyhow even though its frustrating
Lets see how that other side turns out im sure it will be an improvent
