Hello every body,
I was born in Iran , and at age sixteen , i went
to a very professional engraving workshop located in Isfahan ,Iran. Our way of engraving was established about three to four thousand years ago and it's completely handmade,
with special chisels and hammer , and it is also embossed with beautiful patterns,
notice that it was a flat copper sheet at first,
I wonder if i could know your opinions,
thank you.
Here's one of my works : ( its size is 40*50 cm )

Spectacular! If I understand you correctly, this piece was done in repoussé from the back side and chased on the front?

Thank you,
oh yes , you're right , it consists of several procedures , i would like to explain that in another post ,
in summary , most of the work is applied on special composite of tar and ash , we stick the flat sheet on melted tar and
after applying the main pattern by special chisels , we heat and separate the sheet from the tar and then put it under the fire
until the remained tar start burning , then we clean the sheet with water and we put the other side on the tar ,
now we can see the patterns from the back and we start hitting it from the back again with special chisels so that becomes embossed and ......
'But' in case of vases the procedures are so different , because the vase is full of the tar , we have to do all the levels only on the
surface of the vase and it is so difficult , even experienced masters (including my teachers) are so careful , because it's not all about hitting
with chisels and keeping the right shape of the vase during chasing , you know , if you don't perform professionally the vase would explode !
