Student Practising Scrolls

I had a student this week, I taught him my technique on cutting
scrolls with a Lindsay Palm Control standing over the work and cutting
perfectly formed round scrolls without any flat spots. I find that standing directly over the work you are able to cut well formed scrolls with my adjustable stand.

Very nice! JJ is the screw devise built or is it some sort of stock jack? Whatever the case it looks to be quite robust.

like drawing scroll from the inside out, not sure i would be comfortable doing it that way. whatever works, jj, that's the way to fly. did yor student ever try working from the seated position ?

Thanks for the picture JJ. I'm considering placing my vice on a stand and would like permission to copy your design, if you would be so kind as to provide me some particulars on its construction. I guess I need to take the time to visit with you soon to study some of your fixtures.

This set up works great standing or sitting it also works nice when using a microscope I found this jack at a tool show in York Pa.and built the wooden box base don't know what this jack it was used fore,I have a LeTourmeau engraving vise mounted on it.monk my student did try working sitting down but found he was doing better with the scrolls when standing over the work. J.J.
