I’m doing a few nickel headstall buckles and I’m looking for a way to patina the nickel. I know that liver of sulfer won’t work on nickel. Does anybody know a good way to make a patina on nickel?

Try some Birchwood Casey cold blue paste in the tube or the liquid version. I'm pretty sure nickel silver reacts to it, but I don't have any here to test.

Do you mean pure nickel, or nickel sliver? If the latter, Black Max works, as will most things that react with copper. If you mean pure nickel, I'm not sure anything will patina it.

As a very old and long time horse person
..........Just let the buckles even just see the head of a horse. Ha Ha !!

PS. I really think Sam and Travis gave you some good advice.
