Secret Of The Master Engravers

Sam,
After an extended period of thought and consideration I have decided to release to the engraving community, and ultimately the world at large, the most closely held secret of the great masters of engraving.
My decision has been prompted, in part, by the free-exchange of information on venues such as igraver and by the realization that the flow of knowledge from one generation to the next is critical to the advancement of the art. The accompanying image conveys all the information that is necessary for an engraver to realize his or her full potential. When you use this 'technique', pause, and think of the great masters who have gone before us.
Your most humble servant
Craig Rasmussen

So, it's all in the paw? Pretty cat you have there. Now I have to get one, take it over to Jim Small's place and introduce it to "Cooter".

I'm glad your cat is your secret helper. My cat on the other hand.... had a thing for chewing all my air lines under my bench. Can't tell you all how frustrating that was..... I would go down to get some work done and have to replace yet another couple of feet of hose. Every time I blocked the air lines, or tied them up out of the way, or wrapped something around them the cat would lie in wait for the 2 minutes the air line would become exposed and would pounce and chew.

I agree completely mr Rasmussen
For myself I trained my cat Jafar after a visit of the Why Cats Paint website, Museum of non primate art
and it completely changed my skills, although Jafars persian roots, cannot be hidden, it gives my work that "extra oriental touch" have a nice day you all ;-)

I know exactly what Tira means. My wife has a cat that will chew anything including computer cords, phone lines and electric cords. If I don't keep my shop door closed it can mean disaster. If the cat actually engraved I could forgive its bad habits.

Furry Friends

I think we might have material for a new thread - furry friends in the engraving studio. Our boy hasn't eaten through any hoses yet but the little 'love tap' that he gave me in the photo resulted in a 1 inch long gouge. At least it was on a practice plate and not on someone's beloved Purdey.
So how about some more photos of your animals in the studio?

Boo Dog

Is this an opportunity to show off our pets? Yes, I think it is! Here is our newest addition to the family. Got her on Halloween, and named her "Boo". She's not allowed in Sam's studio. Well,.... not anymore. :(
Would't she look great on a hobo nickel? :D

Is it a Wirehair or shorthair pup. My wirehair thinks she is a helper but she helps find birds much better!

Brigitta (Gitta) is a wirehair, she's 10 mos. now. we shot birds over her when she was 7mos.
Much larger now. She don't like chipmunks either. Looks can be decieving.
