Hi Damien
That work is just exquisite!!! Totally mind blowing in every respect.
Perhaps send me photos for the FEGA magazine ???
Hope all is good with you and yours and that you are totally settled into the US of A :)
Cheers
Andrew
Procreate is awesome. I use it all the time and wouldn’t be with out it. The day Andy Shinowsky demoed it on the forum I was hooked.
It is without a doubt the cheapest, most feature packed, intuitive and easy to use drawing program you could ever buy. Even our granddaughter plays with it.

Well, we learn more from our mistakes than anything else. Making them is not the issue it is how we fix them that counts.
Just don’t look for perfection in your work because you will never find it. Perfection is something you find in other peoples work, not your own :)
Hey, it’s your first practice plate. What is there to say other than to encourage you to cut and draw as much as you can.
just keep at it and enjoy the ride. Well done.

No, don't sand it off. It is what it is. Which is fine. :)
Once you have finished and in a few years time, it will be a reminder of where you have come from.
And don't worry, everyone only see their mistakes and how it can be improved next time.
Do your best on the day, look, observe, practice...
Hi Matty
Looking good but needs more. At the moment it looks a bit flat and lifeless.
The difference between a good job and an average one is often the amount of time you spend on it. Now this is important when dealing with paying customers because time is money. But when it’s for yourself and...
To many beginners get hung up about the whole personal style thing. It is like trying to run before you can crawl.
So don't worry about "my style" at the moment............Get the basics and foundations of your designs right first by learning in a disciplined and productive manner. From there...
Okay, rip it apart I will :)
First the good news………..You have some good individual elements going on in this design. Your scrolls are well formed and your leaves are good.
The bad news………………The trouble is when you put it all together it is a butchers mess. It is impossible to critique because...
Very sad news indeed.
I remember fondly John and his family coming to the FEGA show when it was in Reno all those years ago. It was a pleasure meeting him and his family. And we had a few phone calls and engraving a hammer for his collection felt very special. We even had one of his grandsons...
Hi Matty
That is a far better design than what you started off with. And it's great to see that you took on board Mitch's suggestions as well. :)
Just remember that when you cut this.........cut on the outside of the line. Not the centre or inside.

You’re doing really well and the design is taking shape but you still have a few problem areas. Basically all you need now is a little finesse. Just look at where you started and where you are now. A little tinkering will pull it all together. :)
There are a couple of things in an engraving...
I don't know how far you want to take this or how much you want to keep redrawing.
So here are my thoughts about your latest revision.
You still have a few problem areas that need fixing. I've given you a very rough drawing to look at as it may save a thousand words :)
Cheers
Andrew
Much better already. :)
You still need to pull those flowers to the border.
Your scroll head on the left hand side is still a bit squashed.
The start of the scrolls on the right hand side is also squashed.
The leaf on the middle scroll is out of proportion to the other leaves so it needs...
