Very flattering but yes 2 years since I first scratched something. Still lots to learn to achieve my goal.
self taught, I have spoken to two renowned full time engravers in person several times. But have had no tuition. I just want to get better and better and be able to engrave guns

A bit the more practice in between getting ready to move house!! I have been told to try and master my English fine scroll & I feel my own style is developing now. Time is my enemy at the moment. !!! But looking forward to a more permenant and refined work area at the new place.

We are never “there” always something to learn or improve. However Iam becoming happier with my results in English fine scroll, but need to broaden my horizons somewhat.
Some pics of the finished motorcycle fuel cap and casting. Fairly pleased with the outcome and my father in law was very pleased with it.

I understand your point, however as a beginner Iam keen to everything to the very best of my ability and strive to get things as spot on as Iam able. My goal is to one day in time make this my career and there is a lot of fierce competition to go up against.
How do you go about inlaying raised gold/ silver dots??? I have seen it in a lot of engravings but never come actoss any info on how it’s done?? I’m sure there are some here who could enlighten me.

Yes you are right it does look untidy. That was my first attempt at cutting away & stippling background, & if I’m honest I don’t think I went deep enough either. I will endeavour to pay more attention to this. It’s these things that experienced engravers see & point out that help...
