    send it out to someone who does the proper case hardening and bluing, or just leave it soft and finish as you please. I like to give them an antique type of grey finish so the engraving shows

    Very good point made about the signature series colts For the most part people seem to stay away from them. The C and F series are really beautiful guns to play with and engrave.

    I just use a plain ordinary number two pencil sharpen to a point. I either draw straight on the metal or sometimes I will rub some modeling clay on it. Dust it with talcum powder and draw through that and my line show up real good II cut right through that Keep it simple

    While taking a class with Alain Lovenberg, he handed me an ongalette with no heel to use. Mike Dubber and I were shocked how well it cut. Not sure how well other gravers would work. This was for very fine line banknote style cuts

    Your heel angle is deceptive as it is not running parallel to your face. It’s wider at the top as it goes away from the tip. What angles are you using I use a 15 degree heel usually with a 55 degree face.
