For GRS demonstrations at trade shows we use Sony handicams which are very inexpensive, and attach macro lenses to them. The lenses don't screw in so they glue an adapter ring to the front of the camera which the lenses mount to. The lenses are common macro lenses which come in a set. Resolution...
One of our members (Billzach) used an airbrush compressor for quite some time. They run continuously and are small and very quiet. I don't know how well or how reliable it'd be, but I think it's well worth investigating.
I bought an ancient Paasche airbrush compressor on ebay years ago to test...
Lynton would be honored and proud. Well done Brian!
When he was sick there were makers and customers whose things he had for engraving but he wasn't returning calls, etc. Maybe that's the case with this one. Sure looks good.

I would have never sold you my video if I knew your results would be THAT good!
Just kidding....really nice result you've got there! Congratulations!!!
Please don't become one of the many engravers who is a slave to transfers. Pick up a pencil and draw some simple leaves and cut them. I teach my students using transfers and I'm a guilty party setting them up for becoming dependent on them. But I also preach and encourage drawing. In your...
The foot pedal might be out of adjustment. GRS has Youtube videos on troubleshooting you should have a look at.
In the mean time, be sure the handpiece is clean and assembled properly. If not, that can cause problems.
I have heard that as well Jerry. I was always careful not to get a graver hot enough to discolor it, but supposedly it can withstand quite a bit of heat. Maybe it’s tool steel gravers that are more sensitive to heat.
