I think that price range would be very fair and would save a lot of time.
It's important to have an accurately sized template when making overlaid preliminary designs.

My Canon black and white printer, Image Class MF 229 DW has worked for many years and it does acetone transfers just fine. Uses toner cartridge #137.

Yes, the castings sold by FEGA are a true representation of the depth and actual cuts of the original engravings.
To really judge the depth it is best to order the castings without ink.

Following the side of the line is correct.
To keep the chip from obscuring the line tilt the graver very slightly away from you, on it's longitudinal axis.
(As if you were making the slightest of flair cuts)

Though I don't use them much anymore, I have two still hiding out in my garage.
Alumilite is one of the brands of products used to make cast reproductions of engraving.
It is poured into an RTV molding made from the engraved item to cure and solidify.
It can produce an exact copy of the engraving.
Castings are wonderful tools for teaching engraving or record keeping.
