    Happy Thanksgiving

Fred, bless you for using the word "foundered." Old English word I have not heard used since my days in the horse world. Usually used to describe sick horses or boats in trouble on the rocks. :) Thank you for the memory jogging grin on Thanksgiving.

Rob, Some of the translucent plastic carry boxes from Home Depot or Lowe's for $6 to $8 will work with a hole cut in the bottom and lights moved around outside. But look and listen to Sam Welsh and his methods. I have seen Sam do wonders with with his white bed sheet set up. And it all folds...

    P&V Eagle Design

Hello Dan, And thank you for your reply. Remember........it's just my opinion.........other's may disagree. And I don't know what a client is maybe asking for. That could be key. Your scroll work is great and so are your animals. To me they are crowding each other and fighting for breathing...

You asked for an opinion. Absolutely beautiful engraving job on the kudu. But IMO too much scroll in both layouts and it overworked the canvas. Heavy scroll dominates a beautiful light scene. Balance the design.Give the area some "air." Don't crowd the presentation.

Hope nobody minds. Got to move this back to the top in case anyone has missed seeing it. It's just remarkably beautiful engraving, shading and highlight. And the brass just gives it some extra oomph.

    Question: Inscribed Model 1886 Winchester

Thank you Roger. The slight curvature in the main stroke of the letter T and the pronounced wobble in the downstroke of the letter Y are also indications of handcutting. None of this is meant to criticize the engraving job. We are sleuthing and It's fine work. I would be happy if I could do as...

    styles of engraving

Welcome to the world of engraving and thank you for posting your pictures. I would call your examples "line engraving" for wont of a better description. Bulino can be line or dots or a combination of both. Look at an American banknote, the pictures and images are engraved in long and short...
