    Disassemble vise?

    Just trying to help. Not trying to be a critic but I notice some pry marks on the side of your vise. Be sure to polish or burnish down any metal that is raised on these edges or your ball vise won't rotate smoothly. Best of luck with what you are trying to do.

    Hard to say if it will help your speed, not knowing your production rate now.     Heel sharpening question

    Hello Kim, and welcome to the Cafe and the would of engraving. For many thing, straight lines or gentle curves #1 will work fine. #2 will create less heel drag on tight curves and small scroll. Both types of heel have been around and successfully used for many years.

    Thanks for posting the good pictures of your work Chip. I remember you were a youngster of 15 when you took the engraving classes and we had to get special permission for you to be able to take the college classes. You did a good job for someone just getting back to engraving after 20 years...
