Question before buying a grs airsystem

Many good engraver have a favorite handpiece and use it for a majority of their work. The only real way for you to know what suits you is to have it in your hand. Try to get to a show where the tools are being demonstrated and try a couple. But quite frankly ,when you get use to them any one...

Question before buying a grs airsystem

Daniel 29. If you would include your general location in your profile it would make it easier to give you advise appropriate to your area. After rereading your original post I see you are in Germany. But this will not be available when answering your future threads.

Question before buying a grs airsystem

I have used a SilentAire 400 watt,2.15 C.U.F.M,, Model 50-15A for the last 25 years. It is an oil compressor, quieter than a refrigerator and about a 5 gallon tank. It has a viable oil filter and a top feed air bleeder which is hooked up to a drain bottle. I bleed the tank at the end of each...

    Any mistake can be fixed

Archie, binding wire comes in both carbon and stainless steel. Much of it now is made in stainless steel to resist soldering. Make sure to test it with a little cold blue before using.

    Mauzer's pistol grip cap

Your grip cap is amazing! In another post you ask about power tools for removing background. The background in your grip cap is superb and I would urge you to keep on using the same method in the future. Your background is like black velvet.

    micromotor

Csontmetszo, the air turbines are very fast but have almost no torque. The electrics have much more torque at a slower RPM speed. All rotary tools need a lot of PRACTICE AND CAREFUL use for background removal. I find the electric best and use a 1/16 inch micro grind carbide bit shaped to nearly...

    micromotor

Csontmetszo, Both the flex shaft and the micro motor have their place and different uses. Some jobs are better for one than for the other. What part of gun engraving do you plan to use it for? Background removal or sculpturing or what?

    micromotor

I agree. I have same thing but I got it from Gesswein. Sold as their ECO-Torque 280. At a lot lower price than I see posted for the Foredom unit. It's a good little rotary unit using 3/32 inch dental burs in their 3/32 inch collet.

    Need some guidance

All is not lost. Before making changes try them as is. Many push engravers use them at that length. Their forefinger is drawn back and touching their middle digit and their thumb pinches the graver against their forefinger. Give it a try using a soft copper practice plate until you build up the...

    Any mistake can be fixed

Many mistakes such as incorrect cross-overs of linking scroll can be corrected by the inlay of a piece of material that closely matches the background material. Soft iron binding wire will match most carbon steel when blued and stainless steel binding wire will match most stainless items. The...

    Hello from Lafayette, LA

Not bad for an early try. A lot of mistakes that you will correct with more study of scroll. One to start........If you are going for removed or crosshatch background like you did, close the design elements to contain and enclose the background.
