What brand of laser printer works best for transfers?

I have a Canon Image Class MF227dw and it works every time using an acetone wipe on the back of the plain copy paper.

    Laser "engraved" Beretta

Sam, I agree with your post above. The 1911 grabbed your attention and would do the same for many people seeking an engraved/ decorated firearm. I think in the future someone will come up with a CNC driven pantograph with a rotary V-point tool and that can vary the depth/width of cut and also be...

French gray ( grey ) finish.

Hello Mark, I think you will find several articles on French Gray in the archive tips including two of mine. However I don't know if they include info on graying aluminium, I know mine don't. Best of luck with your project and lets see some photos when you're done. We don't see many engraved...

    Laser "engraved" Beretta

To be honest I think that is very tough competition for 20K. Not every ones cup of tea but....... A high quality plain shotgun with a stock of this caliber will cost a very big slice of twenty grand. Look at the prices of the fine, plain shotguns made by Connecticut Firearms or some of the...

    Bank note portrait graver.

Just a follow up. Bob Swartley liked to make his gravers from 3/32 inch MoMax blanks. He shaped and sharpened his gravers using a GRS Power Hone and diamond laps. His power hone was modified by attaching a flat steel strip to each long side of the case. The top of the strips were at the same...

    Scroll work

Hi Pap, I thought I recognized the Ngraver template use. Using the Ngraver or GRS backbone templates for a while will help your mind and memory to recognize and draw a good, clean backbone yourself. After a while it will come easier for you to just do by hand. Please keep practicing and posting.

    Scroll work

Hello Pap. it's good that you are asking for help here It looks to me that you used a template to draw the scroll backbones. These are pretty fair with less shaky lines. As Sam said, start with just one simple scroll and try to get the point of origin and the leaves right and properly spaced...

    Bank note portrait graver.

Hello Jerry. Can't speak for all but the late, great Bob Swartley used a square graver for his portraits and for his printing plates. As you know, Bob also cut very fine detailed plates for printing fine wine labels as well as his art prints. For most things Bob used a square with a very short heel.

    Fixturing trick

Hi Mitch, and others. Here is what I use for those odd items. A very inexpensive hardwood dapping block (#82986) from Micro-Mark offers 6 different diameter cavities and will not require the heat up treatment. And nice and square to hold in your vise. Give it a look. Best regards
