I haven’t been around the Cafe as much as I’d like what with moderating on Facebook, the YouTube channel and all of the other social media.
That being said, as Jan and the FEGA Show get closer I thought I’d post some pics of the FEGA Auction Colt 1911. I’ve just wrapped up the major scroll and inlay of the FEGA shield and next it’s off to Barry Hands for a few more of his gold leaves. When that’s done it’s time for finishing and that’s still up in the air. Blue or French Grey. Sam and I gave it a hard look a few weeks back and grey is looking mighty enticing.
Here’s the Colt in the white. John Powers did the intial prep and Brian Powley added the gold borders. It’s Shaping up to be a special gun. 3EB7F609-0104-4AE8-9329-3800802B4E36.jpeg F2557ACA-6488-4EE4-A207-9EBE59BACD02.jpeg 1B12EC5D-0C78-4B73-9B2C-ADC4CE23CEF8.jpeg D5B51E71-4B0F-4524-8B3E-214C003B73F7.jpeg 991BF504-E253-4284-A281-B79633CBF726.jpeg

Fantastic work! I wish I could make it to Vegas this year to see it in person. A special thanks to you Layne for extra work on producing the videos on youtube of some of the processes you used. You are a true asset to the engraving community!

Really nice ! I see you've snuck in an F.E.G.A. banner on the left side among the scrolls. Are those the grips that are staying with the finished gun ? The blank spaces on the sides, is that part of the design or is more work to go there ? Thanks for the pics , Mark
