Hello, all not here to create a firestorm or argument about tool knockoffs. Full disclosure I own many Steven Lindsay tools and have no interest in buying fake cheap ones. I have been interested in the patent process lately, and have followed the work of master Lindsay since he has been so instrumental in advancing the art of engraving. I noticed if I am reading correctly that his patent on the air graver either expired or soon will? US6095256A - Hand-held pneumatic impact tool and method of controlling the same - Google Patents
Also, I was interested in the templates that he sells, I own many of them and they all list a patent, but when I investigate it looks like the patent is not active and was abandoned? US20080085666A1 - Hand engraving sharpening device - Google Patents
I guess I was just curious if we will see a flood of knockoffs on eBay soon the way we have with GRS tools with expired patents...
I probably should just ask master Steve, but I am not going to bother him with it, and will be purchasing more tools from him in the future, just thought I would see what others here think?
