A friend of mine gave me a molt from one of his Tarantulas. When I brought it home to show the wife it didn't go well..:D She didn't seem to care that it was just a shell. Even my grown son who usually likes this sort of thing shrieked liked a school girl when I put it in front of him.
It was fun.......

You would have got a lot more than a shriek out of me. It would have started with an "S" and I'd have needed a depends afterward. I hate spiders, I'd rather have a rattlesnake around my neck.

I'm ok with spiders & snakes as long as I can see'm and have plenty of distance between me & them, but the ones that find themselves in your britches and you can't shuck'em real fast are the problems. I've been bitten by three so far, one was back in 84 while I was welding on the bottom of a bulldozer out in the desert in east New Mexico, even though it swelled up a lot I didn't lose any tissue over it, Had lump on the outside of my knee about the size of a grapefruit for about a week. The second one was at Johnny Stouts house about a year & half ago, that one left a hole in the outside of my thigh about as big around as dime and a little over an inch deep. This last one, think I got it at Johnny's too sometime in April, just left a small scar, Now just for grins & giggles I'll tell you how I treated this one, The first two got antiserum from the doctor, I read a while back in a email someone sent me about a guy getting bit by a bee and someone had told him to put a penny on it and it would draw the poison out and he told someone & they put a penny on a wasp sting and it worked on it too, so I'm think'n bee, wasp, spider what's the difference. When I notice the bite, looked just like the first two, the first day it has a clear to white head about the size of a pencil eraser and fever around it approx 3" in diameter, gets worse from there, So I'm think'n of the penny right? So after the shower I put a new penny over it using a bandage. At the end of that day the fever was gone and the penny looked new directly over the head but around that it was black, So took a shower, put the penny back on using the bright side, changed penny everyday for the next ten days, the last day as I was drying off from my shower the head opened up and left a small hole, put the penny on that day and that evening the hole was sealed up and only a small scar remains, Now I'm not Doctor Dushane and by no means am I telling yall what to do if you get bit by one of these little monsters but it worked for me & I'll use the penny again if the need ever arises, my wife said I must smell like something they like to eat, I told her it's cause I'm soooo sweet, she didn't comment on that one :D Later, Dwayne

I was spider bitten a couple of summers ago, and it wasn't pretty. My leg swelled up and hurt like crazy, and resulted in my first doctor visit in over 20 years. Not sure what kind of spider it was, but fortunately it wasn't a brown recluse. / ~Sam

Don't tell Johnny I mentioned this :D Probably too late, I think he hangs in the back ground maybe, not sure. He's a great guy, The only thing he grows for sure on his place is knifemakers & deer. Plenty of both usually. Dwayne
