I haven't posted much work for a while so thought I'd share a picture of an English fine scroll variant that I cut on an 18k white gold Rolex Daytona back in July.

This one has a bit of a sad story. Along with an Audemars Piguet watch Jo did, FedEx managed to lose it! There have been investigations into where it went and they swear blind it wasn't stolen (Hmmm!) but it still hasn't turned up. It cost the company hugely and the sleepless nights it gave us doesn't bear thinking about! And FedEx will only pay out on the declared customs value - which was the value of our work as duties had already been paid in Japan and they didn't want to be saddled with more than necessary.

It's pretty useless/valueless without the proper movement and the melt value isn't exactly going to keep you in the lap of luxury.

That is a very sad story. They will probably end up with a knock off movements and fetch a handsome price. I hope they turn up on a drivers dash or something. Fred

Amazing engraving on that watch and a terribly sad story. That scroll is killer!

I've seen images of all the Kindler & Thorpe engraved watches and this one is my favorite, though they are all super. I guess it is just the "gun guy" about me that favors great classic scroll on a watch.

I don't have any words to express my feelings about the loss. :(

Well poop, I hate to hear about the loss and I hope it eventually shows up. The scroll work fit that perfectly, I've always wondered how a Daytona would look engraved in scroll.

a beautiful work, there. i really like the depth that shows. a shame not everyone is willing to work for what they get ! only to make honest people suffer in the end. thanks for showing. a joy to look at.

The ironic thing is, the person who now 'has' it, probably doesn't even realise it's gold!

Here in the UK, our postal service changed recently, and instead of just being able to tell them that the contents of your parcel is 'not on their prohibited list', they now insist you tell them (across the counter) what's in the parcel!!

Taking this literally, I don't particularly feel comfortable mentioning Rolex, Patek Philippe or Cartier at my local post office, AND on a regular basis. It only takes one unscrupulous person to see me there on a couple of occasions to put two and two together, and follow me home one day!!
No, of course I'm not silly enough to say exactly what's in the parcel, but that's what they're asking, which I find disturbing.

Secondly, if it is a prohibited item, you're hardly going to admit to it are you!!

Lovely engraving Marcus!

Very nice work! Have you ever had a problem with a vendor (Panerai, Audemars, etc.) refusing to service one of the engraved watches? I have had some experience with vendors (Rolex is the first to come to mind), refusing to work on anything with aftermarket parts. I realize engraving isn't the same thing, but I could see how a picky vendor would lump it all together to keep people from changing the appearance of their product.
