Hi Everyone

Exactly two years ago to this day a box of engraving tools turned up on my doorstep that I had ordered from the United States. And so my adventure in engraving began. As everyday goes by through the gentle teaching of others I learn something new and gain a better understanding of what I’m doing.

Below are some photos of a Uberti Remington Revolving carbine that I’m working on and should have completely finished by the end of the year. Hopefully in time for Reno in 2008.

Everything up till now has been a practice plate of some sort so this is my first fully working engraved gun.

As usual your thoughts and comments are welcome.

Cheers
Andrew Biggs

absolutely wonderful! Twenty or thirty more years and you might get the hang of this!!! I notice you have included your now very identifiable bird head tendrills on this as well-It will certainly make your work instantly recongnizable-Very well balanced and the flow is certainly there well done-Bravo- and congrats on the mile-stone Fred

We all look forward to seeing you again in Reno and look forward to seeing your work "in person". Way to go Andrew! S

PS...I have often wanted to do one of those revolving rifles but never have gotten around to it.

That's really nice! I hope someday I can produce such work... Now I'm just making first babysteps in engraving.

Love it Andrew. I've never been to the Reno show but I hope to get to the next one. Perhaps I'll get to meet you in the flesh. I love your work.

Andrew ---- great work ! The part I appreciate the most is the top strap -- the way you have woven your scroll in and out of the trellis. Just great!! Ken

Another barn burner, Andrew.
Like Ken said, love the top strap.
And the masterful posing of the piece over the fade-out drawing.
No wonder you do great work, you have such fine design judgement.
Congratulations,
John B.

Hey Andrew,
Excellent! Especially considering the short time that you have been engraving. Looking forward to seeing this piece in Reno.

Stunning and beautifully designed work. The only thing I don't like about it is that I didn't do it.
Congratulations on a spectacular piece of engraving. / ~Sam

Andrew,

IT has been fun to watch your career over the past couple years. Your diligence in seeking out information and strong commitment to practice combined with your aptitude and natural ability has brought you a very long way down the road in two short years. As it should be, every piece you finish and display online is better than the previous one.

VERY well done my friend!

Ray

Fantastic work Andrew. You are well on your way (in two short years) to becoming an artist whose work will be admired by engraving aficionados and devotes the world over!!
Can't wait to see what's next!

Andrew, very nice. I like the intertwining scrolls and the latice work on the top really adds interest. Well done.

In only two years, to go from nothing to doing work like that is really great, I started engraving 2 1/2 yrs ago, I don't know that it was possible to make that kind of progress in the old days, before the better equipment, classes, and openess on forums like this and such. Does'nt it almost seem like we are cheating?

Again, looks great. Brian
