FAKE Nimschke

Someone paid 21000 for a fake Nimschke and not even a well done fake. I guess PT Barnum was right.

Antique business is a risky business.
I myself sometimes bought fakes.

Thanks Sam. I think I was the first to recognize this was done by a pneumatic engraver.

I look at the pictures of the Colt SSA and could not determine was it engraved with H&C or power assist,the pictures where not all that great and there is another letter in the picture from the Colt factory. J.J.

My question is this even Nimschke style scrolls? The scrolls I have seen by him are vastly different than these.

Flint maybe you could do a detailed drawing for us of the scrolls you see I can't see any detail at all on that gun. J.J.

JJ did you put the photos in full screen mode? You can see very good detail. What I mean is the Nimschke scrolls I have seen are very concentric and spiral in at least 3 times. I don't even pretend I know anything so enlighten me.
