Not a good picture, but maybe you can see it. My daughter has the camera at a volleyball game.

Very nice...thanks for posting it. I was having trouble remembering what the Salinas buckles looked like ...but now I remember!

I was 1 point short of a Salinas buckle in about '89 I think. I won second to Clint Johnson. It was still the biggest check I ever won.

I never got that close i dont know that i ever even won any money there. Those Cal. Rodeos were never very good to me.Seems as soon as i crossed the border i got a bad case of the round ass.

Buckle Doming

Greg

How do you go about doming your buckles? I have enjoyed reading this thread on this and all the interaction

Thank you

That year was the 75th anniversary and the buckle had some pretty big diamonds in it to commimorate the diamond anniversary. It was also a one header, so it payed like a slot machine. I think I won a little more than $4000.00 for second.

Here is my first try at uploading pics. It is my only Skyline buckle that I have won.

Bitmaker- I looked at your Stoneyford bit. I won that rodeo in 91. I would have been ecstatic if your bit would have been the prize that year. In regards to your question, that is a hard question to answer. So if I had to give an answer, I would say that I am just another guy that is too stupid to stop buying tools.

I bought my last card in '92. I sure don't remember you. You must be just a little younger than me. We probably ran in to each other somewhere. It surly is a small world.

Frank~ I dome the buckle after I have soldered all the overlays. I have a hard maple dapping/doming block that I bought from Rio Grande years ago. I place a piece of corrugated cardboard in the cavity of the block and then I place my buckle on top of that. I then use my rubberized mallet and begin to gently form the buckle to the shape of the dapping/doming cavity. I work my way from the middle to the edges then I finish working my way from the edges back to the middle.

Best regards,
