i guess i'm a buckle freak; having made and engraved over a thousand of them over the years. i like this one. the inlay just seems to float over the scroll.

interesting piece. How this blueing made? What kind of chemicals were used?

I sent this out to my gunsmith, he has his own "mix" to proiduce this black blue finish.

I really like your buckle, it is elegant in its simplicity....very hard to accomplish that!
Did you hard solder the buckle fittings, or did you use Sta-Silv or other type soft solder, before blueing?

Gail, I used silver solder on the back of this buckle. Easy and strong.

Bluing question

Does bluing on silver wear off?

I would like to use it on a bracelet, but I'm a bit leary of using anything that might come off on the skin.

Bill, the only thing that is blued is the steel buckle base. silver and gold will not accept this as a finish
