Well, this represents my flying leap from practice plates to something real. Sterling silver overlays on a stainless steel flask, shot glasses and cigar cutter, Bulino engraving on a brass Zippo, an inlaid Cambia Poplar display box with a sterling silver nameplate overlay and a hand made sterling silver hinge. I am going to donate this to our cowboy race club's year end awards banquet and auction. The proceeds from the auction help pay for year end awards. The winning bidder will get their family name or ranch name on the nameplate and an initial, monogram, or their brand on the flask. This is my first engraving that is my own artwork. My shading got better over the course of this project, but still has a long way to go. Tell me where i went right and where I'm way off base.

KG, nicely done the only 2 things that stand out to me is the leaf cluster at the top of the flask seems maybe a little redesign there would continue the flow better. Maybe another scroll with a few less leaves. The outside leaves on the cigar cutter come off at too abrupt of an angle,I see why you did that but it does catch my eye. The rest is very nice the box hinge is very cool as is the lighter.
Keep in mind I know nothing just my opinion. Very nice overall.

Hey, thanks for all the replies. Leland & Jonathon - the hinge was something I wanted to challenge myself to achieve. I built two small dies to form the hinge (takes two steps to form each roll, and each half of the hinge had to be formed in three locations). sawed everything out, engraved it, then formed it. By the time I formed it, I had a lot of work into it, so I was pretty nervous, but pretty happy when everything lined up.

Very well done.
