Some of you have seen this piece but enough new members have not that it is reasonable to post it again. It's not often that we get to see a project after it leaves the bench. In this case it returned for touchup and additional engraving in a few minor spots.

This is beyond imagination to be able to make a design like this, I think here in Holland the one who can do it would need some weed before starting......
What did you use Lee, only a pencil and graver?

I really admired this work, Lee,

When you first posted it, and now I admire it even more. It would be a good idea for those of us still struggling to hang your photo near our bench, whenever we feel that we are obliterating thin lines by careless background removal, we have to look up and reflect, "I need some more of Lee's qualities".

Been studying the results of the CERN Large Hadron Collider, particularly the results of sub atomic particle collisions. You may be asked to engrave this on the next Nobel Prize medal...

best

Work like this requires hours of study to truly appreciate. Great to see it again, Lee!

First of all, thanks for the comments.

Willem- I drew it on with a pencil and scribe and started in.......very carefully

Rod- No matter how wonderful we think we are nature always humbles us. Incredible designs and wonders are awaiting discovery.
Travel safely my friend.

Dave-Any interwoven design requires care in cutting and you are right it is a chore to keep track of where one wants to cut and what to leave alone.

Bama- I think it was one of those days when I went heavy on the chocolate milk.

At first glance this and other unusual and complicated designs seem quite daunting. One of the main keys to designing and drawing is to learn to see properly and understand what one sees and to simplify. All of these designs have layers that can be peeled off one by one and simplified.
