Anybody enjoy working with golden mean calipers? I know there’s a lot behind them but just curious if anyone uses them in their workflow already before I go and buy an instant regret of 40 bucks.

I bought the set from ... NZ, don't remember the guys name on Etsy - they're like jewelry and I wouldn't be without them now. Great for laying out.

I have a really big wooden set of calipers I got for a few bucks on ebay. I use them in classes occasionally to measure various things to demonstrate the golden ratio.

I don't use the golden ratio in my work intentionally, although I've found if after the fact on many occasions. If a design is done well, it just happens. I see no problem with starting a design that way if the end result is good, but I'm not sure I see an advantage to it either. I'd like to have a nicely made small set of dividers mostly because I love tools :)

Matty, how about a set of proportional dividers.?
They can be set to golden mean or most any other division desired.
Good suggestion, I have a set of them and use them to lay out lettering.
Nice versatile tools.
Wish I had a pair back when I was engraving plastic injection molds on a pantograph.
I never thought about the golden mean being there too.
