Thanks Allen, we appreciate the great deal of work and time you have done on this. While in practice we are only looking at creating three additional facets for the graver, the variation in the geometry on each of these facets is more complicated than what we might at first think, especially when we try to make calculations..... as can be seen by your formulae on the chart! I wonder what kind of pressure (Psi) is generated at the tip of the graver (using 120° Graver with 15° Heel and 45° Face) when cutting at a depth of .020" through Copper or Half Hard Brass, or Stainless Steel?
Your question about graver pressure at the cutting surface is interesting. I guess you would have to know what force the handpiece or hammer is applying to the graver to start. I am reminded of the old question as to which applies the most pressure on the ground, a B-52 fully loaded with 1000-lb bombs or a 5'-2", 100-lb lady walking in 1/4" diameter heels. The answer is the pressure on her heel is greater than that of a loaded B-52 on all its wheels.
