There was an old Polish engraver in New Orleans back in the 80s named Michael Shabason. I visited him once and he would periodically touch the end of his graver to his tongue. I asked him why he did that and his reply in his Polish accent was "Lu-bree-cay-shun! ! Sah-lee-vah!"
