72 , should know better than to still be riding motorcycles (just got back from riding PCH in CA)
I still enjoy going to work ( most days!) I make signs. Every night work on flintlocks. This is where engraving comes in. I am not that good at it, but it's fun!
I am 55 years old. I have a wife, children, 2 grandsons. And my workshop. Engraving was my hobby when I was a police accountant. After retirement, engraving became the meaning of life for me. I do not promote the art of engraving, I live for it I breathe, it's in my blood.
I have, for many years, followed the advice of Cicero some 2000 years ago who said something to the effect that...if you want to be an old man long you best become one early!
I was 73 in July.
I started my apprenticeship in 1959 at age 14. Still going "not" so strong, arthritis is slowing me down but when I concentrate on my work the pain fades away. It returns only during the night... I never wanted to retire, now the pain forced me into semi retirement.
I appreciate being alive in this beautiful world, at my old age more than ever.
