I taught calligraphy to my middle school students. Just a few continued with it. I wonder what they are doing now. I did run into one of my student that had done wedding invitations for people. Each invitation done by hand.

The IMAPETH site is amazing. Take a look at it. I also recommend looking at some of the copperplate on YOUTUBE. They have good instructions and suggestions on the basics. In our digital age we need to encourage more young to be motivated to become good at penmanship. A hand written note is more meaningful than a text.

Just as a side note, penmanship was taught at a college and university level at one time. I had a great uncle who taught penmanship at that level. He was also an accountant and all records were kept using pen and ink. Can you imagine that happening today?
