thanks chris
Very nice Chris, I agree, you have learned your lessons well. Is it rust blued? How did you get that soft finish? Great job! Should go on the end of a cane I think. I am also curious about the wavy line. It looks textured. Is that raised and punchdot? Ron S
hi everyone i used copper for the wavey line left it a bit proud then dot punched it for a beading afect used gold wire inlay side by side for the horns then flattend some gold into foil for the flashes and eyes so i could damascened them ,the dome i did on a round steel steak with a hammer then a slap hammer to get smooth
a slap hammer is a old file with the teeth taken off and polished a bit you slap the steel it brings all highs and lows up an then you sand smooth the face has to be worked from both sides of the metal to produce the features the colour was done by heating the hole thing with a torch then rubbed with a oily rag dry then rub a floor wax over stops any rusting i think some tool makers may have blued there small tools this way but not sure
thanks chris
