Practice Plate Material

Suggestion for practice plate material: I purchase old used silver plate trays and platters at thrift stores and second hand stores etc.,
I use my band saw and cut off the boarders….. I then cut remaining flat bottoms of trays into practice plates of desired size……
I normally engrave the back sides of trays as they a relatively unscratched. The vast majority of these trays are copper silver plated.

Good idea, or inexpensive large hardware store washers.

Tools, black iron pipes, scrap steal at machine shops, cheap knifes, pieces of any type of metal they all have learning curves

brass or copper elbows and tee fittings are a good source for doing compound curves. junk yards have lots of this stuff.
