Thanks for the progress pics.
I see you are doing the gold-work after the scroll-work. How do you level the gold without marring the beautiful scrolls?

Brant, the gold is raised inlay and there is no real problem damaging the scroll. The surface of the action has a slight curvature so even flush gold should not be a problem. I'll post pictures of the finished piece soon.

This might seem like a stupid question............why is the gold a dirty color please?

It is just simple stipple shading to give it texture and depth.
